U.S. Open 2013 : Djokovic in a duel against Murray?
With the decline of Federer and Nadal, the Big Four has turned into a duel between Djokovic and Murray. Finalists of the last three Grand Slam tournaments played on hard surfaces( Australian Open 2012, 2013, U.S. Open 2012 ), the two leaders of the ATP are expected to face each other once again in the last step at Flushing Meadows. Can we still expect another poster in the final in New York? To answer this question, let's review the main contenders for the coronation. On hard surfaces and best of five sets, Novak Djokovic still has some leeway in the competition. And losing to Nadal in the semifinals of the recent Masters Montreal changes nothing. Triple winner at the Australian Open and present at least in the final of the last two U.S. Opens (1 title), Djoker is still landed with a runner status in New York, represented by a score of 2.75 at Bwin. The results :

The favorites were all present. Among them, Frenchman Richard Gasquet who managed to reach the semi -finals. The winner of this tournament, Rafael Nadal, eliminated one by one all of his opponents, and arrived with not much difficulty in the final. His first victory was easy against American Harrison (6-4, 6-2, 6-2) and beating the Serbian Djokovic (6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1) who won his 13 th grand Slam. However, he will retain his position as the world's second best player just behind the invincible Novak.

A small tour of the French :
Many Frenchmen were present at the U.S. Open in 2013. Among them, Richard Gasquet, Monfils and Pair. Only Gasquet managed to reach the semi-finals, where he got eliminated by Rafael Nadal (6-4, 7-6, 6-2). As for Monfils, he was beaten in the second round by American John Isner (7-6, 6-2 , 4-6, 7-6). Unfortunately, the French have not made the final of the tournament in the United States.
And what about the Americans?
Bob and Mike Bryan won the final two games against Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek.
On the ladies side , the world's number 1, Williams, defeated and captured the victory in the final against the second best player in the world.

Florian

Conclusion :

This grand Slam was the opportunity for Nadal to win his first U.S. Open. This is not the case of Williams, who has won it four times.
