Robert Nesta Marley rename better known as Bob Marley was born on the 6th February 1945 in the village of Nine Mile in Jamaïca.
Bob Marley is a singer of reggae. Reggae is a mix of Jazz and Rhythm and Blues. Reggae is a style of music that comes from Jamaïca. Bob Marley remains to this day the most famous Reggae singer in the world. Bob Marley sold 25 million copies worldwide.
Bob Marley's father, Norval Sinclair Marley was a white English-Jamaîican. Norval claimed to have been a captain in the Royal Marines and was a overseer an plantation overseer when he married Cedella Booker an Afro-Jamaïcan then 18 years old. In 1955, when Bob Marley was just 10 years old his father died of a heart attack at 70 years old.
Bob with and Livingston started to play music when they were at school. Marley left Nine Miles when he was 12 years old with his mother for Trench Town in Kingston. In Trench Town, he met Livingston again and they started to make a music with Joe Higgs. (Joe Higgs was a local singer), after Bob met Peter Mclntosh (Later renamed as used the name Peter Tosh) who had musical ambitions.
In 1962, Bob Marley sold his first two singles "Judge Not" and "One Cup of Coffee" with a local music producer Leslie Kong. Marley was also known to use an Epiphone guitar for much of this career.
In 1963, Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Junion Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso and Cherry Smith formed a rocksteady group named "The Teenagers". They later changed their name ("The Teenagers") for "The Wailing Rudeboys", then to "The Wailing Wailers" and finally "The Wailers".
In 1966, he married Rita Anderson.
In 1980, after fainting during a jog while jogging in Central Park in New York, Bob Marley passed an X-ray examination and doctors discovered five tumors, three in the brain, one in the lungs and one in the stomach. The cancer was generalised. He said nothing and continued his tour including his concerts in the Bourget in Seine-Saint-Denis in France on the 3rd July 1980, which brought more than 50,000 people and played his last concert in Pittsburgh the on 23 September 1980.
Marley turned down doctors' advice to have his toe amputated, citing his religious beliefs.
