First, I'm going to speak about Rennes's History, monuments and museum. And after I'm going to speak about the activity of the city.
To start, here this is a map that shows the location of the city. It is located in "Bretagne".
This is a flag on Bretagne.
Since ancient times, there was a village at the confluence of two rivers, the Ille et Vilaine. It was founded by Redon (or Riedon) - one of the ancient peoples of Brittany - probably in the second century BC. When the Romans invaded Britain, he made this town the capital of Redon and called it Condate (which means "confluence"). In the fourth century the Roman Empire collapsed under the pressure of barbarian invasions. Condate change its name: Rennes, from the name of its founders. The town is protected behind solid walls who held off different attacks against neighboring countries. From the fifth century, many tribes from England settled in western Brittany (or "Finistere" today). These lands will be independent known as "Petite Bretagne" and "Bretagne".
16th century to the present
During these two centuries, Rennes asserts its status as a city of the kingdom. The locks were built to regulate the course of the Vilaine and promote transit trade. The population exploded, hundreds of new homes appeared, mostly built of wood. The walls impeding the expansion of the city, they were taken down in 1602. The first half of the twentieth century was obviously bloodied by the two world wars. The second conflict is particularly deadly in Rennes. In 1940, the Germans bombed the station, causing the explosion of a munitions train that will make more than a thousand dead. Then the city was victim to destruction during the Allied advance.
With the redefinition of administrative regions in 1956 which sees "Nantes" attached to the "Pays de la Loire", Rennes is the undisputed capital of Brittany.
The City assumes this role! Economic dynamism provides great prosperity to the city. Rennes is enters without the complex (of competing for the role of capital with Nantes) in the twenty-first century!
The variety of materials gives the city a colorful atmosphere that is revealed by the many buildings from the Gallo-Roman in the twenty-first century. The capital of Brittany is also discovered in the course of its museums and exhibition galleries.
indeed the museums are all different : wax museum, museum of works of art, castle …
the museum are differents: there is exposition, and wax museum !
there is much architecture: the civil architecture __, from Middle Ages to our days, Rennes has some public buildings that give the city its status as regional capital.
__the contemporary architecture, the dynamic nature of the city attracts tourists by comparing modern and ancient architectures.
This is the Library.
the the architecture of "earth", the city was poor stone (?) to be built, which the residents make with earthen structures.
There are many things to do in a big city like Rennes! For example you can find any theatrical entertainment, art galleries, or museums, but there are also hiking trails, natural areas, or the cinema, swimming pool or skating rink!
In Rennes there is One of the most beautiful landscape parks in France! the park floral in "Haute bretagne à Le Chatellier".
