I will talk about Biarritz:
History of the city:
Why I chose this city:
Biarritz is a town located in the French department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Aquitaine region
Popular seaside resort since the XIX century, it consisted of a tiny fishing village of Victor Hugo when the whale discovered(?) in 1843. The village was originally composed of two population centers: one in the district of Saint-Martin and the other to the fishing port. In 1940, during World War II, the Germans dug the Atlantic Wall in the cliffs of Biarritz. From Since 1784, the seaside are has been all the rage and there bathed Napoleon in 1808. It was at Biarritz that Bismarck came to meet Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte in September 1865 to obtain the support of the French Emperor to Prussian policy. On June 27, 1940, German troops occupied the Basque coast.
Here the emblem of Biarritz which is a boat with five men, one about to harpoon a whale dives into the waves.
The Festival of Biarritz, cinemas and cultures of Latin America this year the best of the creation of Latin America in all its forms (film competition, short films, exhibitions, conferences).
I will now speak of heritage.
The rock of the Virgin is truly the symbol of the city of Biarritz. Upon the initiative initiation of Napoleon III has been the rock was pierced the rock, which was to be the basis for the construction of a port of refuge.
Here is the palace hotel. It was Napoleon III who commanded its construction in 1854 as a gift for his wife Eugénie de Montijo. The residence has seen all the aristocracy and the stars of the time. And she has lost none of its prestige when in 1905 it was converted into a hotel: Winston Churchill, Coco Chanel, or and Frank Sinatra have stayed.
The municipality has the following ranges: Miramar Beach, Great Beach, the Old Port, the Basque coast, the beach of Marbella and the beach of Milady.
Many large areas are around Biarritz as Hendaye is the city that separates France from Spain, Bayonne, St. Jean de Luz and many others.
The beach of Hendaye.
