Seiches sur le loir

Seiches sur le Loir is a little village in the department of Maine-et-Loire, which is in the region of Pays de la Loire. It has 3,019 inhabitants and its area is 28.83 km². People who live here are called “Seichois” (for the male population) and “Seichoises.”(for the female population)
Seiches is situated 20 minutes from Angers. The mayor of the town is Odile Chalain, who is a also a German teacher.
The history of Seiches :
In the fifth century the empire sank into chaos consequently christianity arrived in the countryside. Initially, the area located along the Loir was called "Villa Cipia" and then turned into "Seiches sur le Loir" on the 13th November 1920.
The natural heritage of Seiches , already rich from its old houses and its church, was enriched in the nineteenth century with the Castle of Brignac, designed by the architect Hodé.
In the nineteenth century the village expanded with the cottage industry & small jobs were created : the work of turning paper into pulp, the oil, wool and leather industries.
1873 : Thanks to the construction of its bridge over the Loir, Seiches becomes again an important communication crossroads.
Today Seiches which is still very dynamic is living up to its glorious past.
The township of Seiches sur le Loir has 13 municipalities and 10,079 inhabitants.
